TLDR Review: Hampton Bay Gas Patio Heater
Verdict
The Hampton Bay Gas Patio Heater 42,000 BTU Gold offers a stylish addition to any outdoor setting and provides decent warmth for a small radius. However, the complicated assembly process, ineffective heat distribution, and overall performance do not match the expectations for its price. If you prioritize aesthetics over function, it may suit your needs under a covered patio. For those seeking more robust heating, considering alternative heaters with better heat retention and simpler assembly could be beneficial.
- Top pro:
- Provides ample warmth within a 6-8 foot radius, making it suitable for Autumn dinners.
- Top con:
- Ineffective heating in outdoor areas, with most heat lost upwards rather than radiating outwards.
Pros

- •Aesthetically pleasing design that garners compliments and attracts attention.
- •Functionality improves significantly with practice during assembly, reducing time to less than one hour on successive attempts.
Cons
- •Ineffective heating in outdoor areas, with most heat lost upwards rather than radiating outwards.

- •Assembly is challenging, requiring additional tools, and the instructions are confusing.
- •Some parts, such as the door to the gas canister, are flimsy and require extra magnets for stability.
- •Heat output is disappointing, especially for uncovered patios, making it less effective for cooler evenings.
- •Perceived value is lower than the selling price due to its ineffective performance and flimsy construction.
