TLDR Review: Greenworks 40V String Trimmer and Leaf Blower Combo
Verdict
The Greenworks 40V Cordless String Trimmer + Leaf Blower Combo Kit offers a solid, eco-friendly alternative to gas-powered tools, with impressive performance for typical residential yard maintenance. Its lightweight design, quick charging batteries, and versatile features make it attractive for homeowners with medium-sized yards. However, if you have a larger property or need heavy-duty trimming and blowing power, you might want to consider a gas model or a tool with longer battery life and more robust capabilities. - •Powerful blower with 110 mph airflow effectively clears leaves and debris.
- •The trimmer delivers a clean cut, great for maintaining edges and overgrown areas.
- •Battery system supports quick charging—1 hour for the 2Ah and 2 hours for the 4Ah—so you won’t wait forever to get back to work.
- •Compatible with larger batteries (like the 6Ah option) for longer runtime, which is handy for bigger jobs.
- •No fumes or messy oil, offering a more eco-friendly and quieter alternative to gas models.
- •The tools are well-balanced with ergonomic controls, making them comfortable for extended use.
- •The combo kit makes it a versatile yard maintenance set, covering trimming and blowing tasks.
- •Simple to store with vertical wall mounting, perfect for compact garages.
- •Durable and reliable performance with positive long-term user experiences, especially on regular yard chores.
Cons
- •Battery life can be limited (around 20-30 minutes), so larger projects may require extra batteries.
- •Edge trimming isn’t as precise or fast as corded or gas trimmers, especially on sidewalks or dense grass.
- •The string feed mechanism can jam and require manual fixing, which can be frustrating.
- •Heavier than expected when using larger batteries, which might impact maneuverability for some users.
- •Slightly louder than some other electric tools, which could be an annoyance during early morning use.
- •Some assembly required, and minor issues like internal obstructions in the blower tube may need troubleshooting.
- •Not ideal for heavy-duty brush or obstacle-laden terrain; better suited for typical residential yard work.
- •The blower, while effective, might be less powerful compared to higher-end gas-powered units.
- •Maintenance involves cleaning and occasional fixing of parts, but no oil or spark plug changes are needed.
- •The 12-inch cut path on the trimmer might be limiting for larger, more demanding landscaping projects.
