TLDR Review: Greenworks 40V 24" Hedge Trimmer HT40B212
Verdict
The Greenworks 40V 24" Hedge Trimmer (HT40B212) is a solid choice for homeowners looking for a reliable, lightweight cordless tool with excellent reach and battery life. It strikes a nice balance between power and usability, especially suited for typical hedge trimming and shrub maintenance. If you want slightly more power or larger cutting capacity, you might want to consider other models with bigger batteries or longer blades, but for everyday use this one performs admirably. Its compatibility with Greenworks’ battery platform also makes it a smart pick if you already own or plan to own other tools from their line.
- Top pro:

- Top con:
- The trigger mechanism can feel cumbersome or awkward initially, requiring an adjustment period
Pros
- •Very comfortable to use with excellent reach, making trimming less of a hassle
- •High RPMs deliver efficient, clean cuts on small branches like lilacs and typical shrubs
- •Notable improvement in cutting with the longer 24-inch blade compared to earlier Greenworks 24" models
- •Powerful and aggressive enough to handle tough shrubs quickly without feeling underpowered
- •Lightweight design allows for easy handling and extended use without fatigue
- •Battery life is long-lasting and reliable, often lasting through an entire trimming session without recharge
- •Compatible with Greenworks 40V and 48V battery platforms, integrating well with other tools in the brand’s ecosystem
- •Excellent build quality with durable materials reflecting Greenworks' reputation for reliability
- •Responsive and helpful customer service adds peace of mind
- •Trusted brand known for cordless outdoor tools that can last over a decade
Cons
- •The trigger mechanism can feel cumbersome or awkward initially, requiring an adjustment period
- •Safety triggers shut off the tool immediately if grip is lost, which some find annoying during prolonged use
- •While powerful, it is not "overly" powerful, so may struggle on really thick branches over 1 inch (which matches its cutting capacity)
