TLDR Review: Gorilla Crystal Clear Duct Tape
Verdict
If you want clear, weatherproof duct tape that offers strong adhesion and looks almost invisible on repairs, especially for inflatables and outdoor uses, Gorilla Crystal Clear Duct Tape is a solid choice. Its durability through various weather conditions and reliable hold make it great for small to medium repairs, though the small roll size means you may need multiple packs for bigger jobs. If you’re tackling larger or heavy-duty patching, you might want to complement it with a dedicated patch kit designed for tough repairs.
- Top pro:
- Extremely sticky without being difficult to handle, offering strong adhesion without frustration.
- Top con:
- Rolls are very small with a limited amount of tape on each, making it less ideal for larger tasks.
Pros
- •Extremely sticky without being difficult to handle, offering strong adhesion without frustration.
- •Easy to tear off pieces without requiring scissors, adding convenience during use.
- •Does not stick to itself excessively, preventing annoying tape clumping.
- •Strong enough to hold structures like small greenhouses on PVC pipes and repair large holes.
- •Effectively seals and repairs air mattresses and inflatables, providing a near-invisible and airtight fix that maintains the item's appearance.
- •Bonds well to a variety of surfaces, including leather chair seats and greenhouse plastic.
- •Weatherproof and durable, withstanding rain, cold, intense UV exposure, and year-round outdoor conditions.
- •Remains strong and flexible over time, sometimes even outperforming original materials like tent canvas.
- •Reliable and easy to use for quick repairs, especially outdoors.
- •Rolls are conveniently sized for smaller projects and quick fixes.
Cons
- •Rolls are very small with a limited amount of tape on each, making it less ideal for larger tasks.
- •Can be harder to start peeling off compared to masking or regular duct tape.
- •Does not tear well by hand despite easy cutting with scissors or a knife, which can slow down use slightly.
- •Fingerprints can be picked up on the tape’s surface and may be noticeable on dark or glossy surfaces, requiring extra care like gloves or hand washing.
- •While strong, it may not match the performance of specialized patch kits for high-pressure repairs.
