TLDR Review: GIGABYTE RTX 4090 Gaming OC Graphics Card
Verdict
The GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24G is a top-tier powerhouse delivering exceptional 4K and ray tracing gaming performance with efficient cooling and low noise. If you have a large enough case to accommodate its size and want superb performance with superb future-proofing, this card is a fantastic choice. For those seeking a slightly sleeker design or smaller form factor, exploring other RTX 4090 variants might be worth your while, but you’d be hard-pressed to find a better price-to-performance ratio in the high-end GPU market right now.
- Top pro:
- Delivers a monumental leap in gaming performance with massive fps improvements at 1440p and smooth true 4K gaming with maximum ray tracing settings.
- Top con:
- The card is notably large and thick, which could cause compatibility issues in smaller cases or require attention to mounting and airflow.
Pros
- •Delivers a monumental leap in gaming performance with massive fps improvements at 1440p and smooth true 4K gaming with maximum ray tracing settings.
- •Runs cooler and quieter than previous generation cards, thanks to the 3X WINDFORCE cooling system, maintaining temperatures mostly in the mid-50s to low 60s °C under heavy load.
- •Equipped with a generous 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM, offering strong future-proofing for demanding games and professional workloads.
- •Consumes roughly the same power as a 2080 Ti but delivers over 70% better performance, demonstrating excellent efficiency.
- •Minimal to no coil whine reported during regular gameplay, with very quiet fan noise even at full load.
- •Solid, high-quality build with flexible BIOS modes (performance and silent) for user customization.
- •Easy installation and sturdy engineering with a design that holds up under heavy use.
- •Benchmarks consistently validate its top-tier performance, outperforming even the Founders Edition RTX 4090.
- •Provides excellent value relative to even pricier competing 40-series GPUs, making it a worthwhile investment for enthusiasts.
- •Software for RGB lighting and fan control operates smoothly without conflicts.
Cons
- •The card is notably large and thick, which could cause compatibility issues in smaller cases or require attention to mounting and airflow.
- •The asymmetrical horizontal design and LED lighting are less visually appealing compared to some rival models.
- •The support bracket design is awkward, though it can be replaced.
- •Some units arrive with slightly bent radiator fins, likely a manufacturing issue; while mostly cosmetic and fixable, it might concern perfectionists.
- •Out of the box, the card can run at higher temperatures (60-70°C) and produce louder fan noise until undervolted and overclocked.
- •Pricier than ideal due to Nvidia's pricing strategy, though still competitive within the RTX 4090 market segment.
