TLDR Review: Gerber Ultimate Knife
Verdict
The Gerber Gear Ultimate Knife is a standout survival tool combining durability, functionality, and affordable pricing. It delivers on being a tough, multipurpose knife equipped with thoughtful extras like the firestarter and sharpener, making it a solid choice for weekend adventurers or serious survivalists on a budget. Just be aware you might want to add a retention tether to the ferro rod and give the blade a quick sharpen before heavy use. If you’re looking for a no-nonsense, well-featured fixed blade survival knife that won’t break the bank, this is definitely worth considering. If you want a survival knife that offers exceptional craftsmanship and a louder whistle, you might also want to explore other top-rated survival knives, but for combining value and quality, this Gerber Gear Ultimate Knife truly excels.
- Top pro:
- The Gerber Gear Ultimate Knife is praised for its high-quality, durable construction using 7Cr17MoV steel that maintains sharpness and strength under tough conditions.
- Top con:
- The ferro rod does not have a factory retention string, so it can easily fall out if the knife is worn on a belt; adding your own string loop is recommended to avoid losing it.
