TLDR Review: Garmin ECHOMAP Ultra 2
Verdict
The ECHOMAP Ultra 2 126sv impresses with its intuitive interface, solid wireless connectivity, and competitive transducer performance—plus that gorgeous 12" display is definitely the way to go if you want a premium viewing experience. However, there's a significant durability concern here: multiple reviewers flagged that this unit tends to give up the ghost around the 3-year mark, and with Garmin's warranty only covering about 2 years, you could find yourself holding a very expensive paperweight with no manufacturer support. If you're planning to keep this for the long haul, you'll want to seriously weigh whether you're comfortable with that risk, or consider whether an extended warranty might be worth the investment.
- Top pro:
- The operating system is intuitive and impressive
- Top con:
- The unit may experience power failures around the 3-year mark
Pros
- •The operating system is intuitive and impressive
- •Wireless linking is simple and straightforward to set up
- •The transducer performs competitively with leading competitors
- •The 12" screen is excellent and outperforms smaller size options
Cons
- •The unit may experience power failures around the 3-year mark
- •Warranty coverage ends after approximately 2 years, leaving the device vulnerable to out-of-warranty failures
- •The manufacturer doesn't provide support or replacement options for units failing after warranty expiration
