TLDR Review: Gardner Bender DoubleLock Cable Tie 11 inch, Black
Verdict
The Gardner Bender 46-310UVB DoubleLock Cable Ties offer solid strength, UV resistance, and versatility that make them a dependable choice for electrical, outdoor, and general cord management needs. However, a modest failure rate and sometimes confusing length labeling mean you should consider them with some caution if absolute reliability is critical. For those who want greater consistency or need ultra-precise lengths, trying a premium brand might be worth the investment. Overall, these ties are a practical, budget-friendly option for bulk use with decent durability.
- Top pro:
- Strong and durable; these ties rarely break under normal use and hold firmly in place without slipping.
- Top con:
- Some ties have a roughly 15-20% failure rate due to missing or defective locking mechanisms, leading to occasional unreliable ties.
Pros
- •Strong and durable; these ties rarely break under normal use and hold firmly in place without slipping.
- •UV resistant, so they maintain performance and don’t become brittle or degrade even with prolonged sun exposure.
- •Thick, high-quality nylon material that feels sturdier compared to cheaper alternatives.
- •Versatile size (11 inches) suitable for a variety of tasks, including securing up to 75 lbs and DIY projects like rigging pulley systems.
- •Reliable locking mechanism that generally holds securely, making them great for emergency kits or outdoor use.
- •Can be cut to desired length with a flush cutter, allowing customization and clean finishes.
- •Convenient bulk pack of 100 ties offers good value for regular or professional users.
- •Flexible enough for various applications though slightly stiff, with needle-nose pliers helping in tight spots.
Cons
- •Some ties have a roughly 15-20% failure rate due to missing or defective locking mechanisms, leading to occasional unreliable ties.
- •Actual length is around 11 inches rather than the 8 inches sometimes expected, causing confusion for those needing precise measurements.
- •Slight stiffness can make threading through tight spaces challenging without additional tools.
- •Packaging and labeling can be misleading or contain double labels, which may confuse buyers.
- •The inconsistency in quality reduces overall confidence and value, especially when compared to more premium zip ties.
