TLDR Review: GARAGE BOSS GB351 Gas Can
Verdict
The GARAGE BOSS GB351 Briggs and Stratton Press 'N Pour Gas Can delivers solid leak prevention and a reliable, spill-reducing pouring mechanism, making it a safe and sturdy choice for gasoline storage and transfer. However, its heavier weight, larger-than-expected size, and sometimes tricky vent performance mean it's best suited for users who prioritize durability and safety over compactness and ease of pouring in tight spaces. If you need a smaller or more ergonomic gas can with a more integrated cap, you might want to explore other no-spill designs on the market, but for dependable, no-leak performance, this one holds its own.
- Top pro:
- The secure twist and lock mechanism effectively prevents leaks and keeps the top firmly in place, enhancing safety during use and storage.
- Top con:
- The product is heavier and somewhat awkward to handle, making pouring more challenging, especially in tight spaces.
Pros
- •The secure twist and lock mechanism effectively prevents leaks and keeps the top firmly in place, enhancing safety during use and storage.
- •Press-button control allows precise gas flow only when needed, helping to avoid accidental spills.
- •The nozzle design is simple and straightforward, easy to use, and dispenses gas reliably by activating flow only while the button is pressed.
- •Durable, high-quality plastic construction feels sturdy and built to last.
- •Additional screw cap on the tube end adds a layer of safety to prevent spills during transport or storage.
- •Dispenses gas more reliably than many other current gas cans, especially those affected by newer regulations around nozzles and vents.
- •Good customer support from the manufacturer, including quick replacement parts if the vent leaks.
- •Larger actual size (about 15" tall, 8.75" wide, and 15.25" long) makes it more usable in locations without tight space constraints.
- •Avoids complicated lock or twist-lock mechanisms, offering a clean user experience that is less frustrating than some competitors.
- •Helps prevent spills for clumsy or cautious users by requiring deliberate button pressing to pour.
Cons
- •The product is heavier and somewhat awkward to handle, making pouring more challenging, especially in tight spaces.
- •Requires pressing the button firmly while pouring, which can be cumbersome, particularly when refueling small tanks or in confined areas.
- •The original vent valve design is problematic, often leaking or hampering fuel flow; many users replaced the vent to improve performance.
- •Residual gasoline in the nozzle tube can drip after releasing the button, requiring some extra caution to avoid messes.
- •Screw cap on the nozzle is not attached and can easily be lost, which poses a risk for spills or dirt entering the tube.
- •Actual dimensions are larger than advertised, meaning it does not fit well in compact storage spaces like a 15 x 15-inch box.
- •The gas drains slowly, making filling tanks a longer process compared to other models.
- •Some users find the overall design a bit bulky and clunky compared to more modern gas cans with ergonomic handles and spouts.
