TLDR Review: EGO SNT2410 Snow Blower
Verdict
The *EGO SNT2410 24 inch Self-Propelled 2-Stage XP Snow Blower* is an excellent gas-free alternative for homeowners tackling moderate to heavy snowfalls, blending powerful performance with convenient, low-maintenance operation. While battery performance can be sensitive to extreme cold and multiple batteries may be needed for large, deep snow loads, its quiet operation, solid throwing distance, and easy maneuverability make it a standout electric model in its class. If you’re looking for robust snow-clearing power without fumes or gas hassles—and are ready to factor in separate battery purchases—this snow blower deserves serious consideration. If you want to explore other options or consider bundles with batteries and chargers for better value, checking the ShopSavvy app for deals can be a smart move before committing.
- Top pro:
- Powerful performance comparable to gas snow blowers, easily handling heavy, wet snow and lake effect conditions.
- Top con:
- Battery performance declines significantly in very cold conditions; batteries need to be stored above 15°F and may require warming before use.
Pros
- •Powerful performance comparable to gas snow blowers, easily handling heavy, wet snow and lake effect conditions.
- •Throws snow impressively far—up to 40-50 feet with light powdery snow—making quick work of driveways and sidewalks.
- •Self-propelled and lightweight design (about 170 lbs with batteries) make it highly maneuverable and easy to steer without clutches or levers.
- •Heated handle grips and trigger-controlled steering provide added comfort and convenient control during operation.
- •Operates quietly and cleanly, eliminating the noise and fumes associated with gas models.
- •Battery power provides instant torque in both forward and reverse; battery life lasts long enough for typical residential driveway clearing on a single charge.
- •Lower maintenance needs compared to gas blowers—no oil changes or fuel storage required.
- •Easy to use with a simple design and clean operation; recommended for moderate to heavy snow in residential settings.
- •Battery recharge times are reasonably fast (about 45 minutes in a heated garage), enabling multiple clearing sessions during heavy snow events.
- •Third-party batteries are compatible but official EGO batteries offer better runtime and overall performance.
Cons
- •Battery performance declines significantly in very cold conditions; batteries need to be stored above 15°F and may require warming before use.
- •Chute direction control is loose and doesn’t hold firmly in place; chute height adjustment is coarse and not integrated with steering.
- •Auger speed control adds complexity without significant throwing performance improvements; increases battery consumption.
- •Minimum drive speed is a bit high for deep snow, requiring multiple passes or smaller clearing widths.
- •Battery life drains quickly in deep, powdery snow and extended use demands multiple high-capacity batteries, adding to the cost.
- •No onboard display for power or battery usage, making it harder to optimize runtime.
- •Does not include battery or charger, which adds to the initial expense for first-time EGO users.
- •Some users find calibration of the chute deflector tricky, although manufacturer videos help with this.
- •Not ideal for very large properties or commercial/farm use without additional batteries and chargers.
