TLDR Review: EF ECOFLOW DELTA Pro Ultra Power Station
Verdict
The EF ECOFLOW DELTA Pro Ultra is a robust, expandable home battery backup and solar generator that delivers high power output and modular scalability for serious power users. It shines in applications requiring reliable, consistent energy and flexible system growth. However, its battery level monitoring and display quirks, standby power consumption, and misleading EV charging claims mean it’s best suited for users who can handle a bit of technical nuance or who have professional installation support. If you need flawless battery readouts or actual off-grid EV charging, you might want to keep looking or supplement with additional products. Overall, this is a powerful, well-built system for those ready to invest in a serious home or RV backup solution.
- Top pro:
- Modular design allows adding extra batteries to expand capacity from 12kWh up to 90kWh, tailored to your power needs.
- Top con:
- Inaccurate battery level indicator requires full charges to recalibrate; display often shows misleading percentage readings and voltage jumps unpredictably, sometimes causing premature system shutdowns.
Pros
- •Modular design allows adding extra batteries to expand capacity from 12kWh up to 90kWh, tailored to your power needs.
- •Highly reliable and efficient solar generator, capable of running appliances like fridges, window AC units, and air fryers without issues.
- •Supports both 120V and 240V input, offering flexibility with power sources and compatibility with various applications like home backup, emergency, camping, and RV use.
- •Firmware updates are smooth and the system generally performs as expected with consistent and reliable results.
- •Easy to assemble and set up, complemented by a straightforward application for monitoring and control.
- •Impressive build quality and reliable app functionality add confidence in long-term usage.
- •Inverter operates quietly and handles significant power output (7200W AC) effectively.
- •Suitable for partial solar panel backup strategies when paired with smart home panels, enhancing energy management.
- •Recommended installation with a qualified contractor helps ensure system optimization and safety for complex setups.
Cons
- •Inaccurate battery level indicator requires full charges to recalibrate; display often shows misleading percentage readings and voltage jumps unpredictably, sometimes causing premature system shutdowns.
- •LCD display flickers with power draw changes and cannot be permanently disabled, which can be distracting in small spaces like vans or campers.
- •Standby power consumption is relatively high, with an estimated 5-10% loss per day, a consideration for true off-grid living scenarios.
- •Solar input drops to zero during shading and takes several minutes to resume charging after sunlight returns, causing delays in energy capture.
- •Inverter generates significant heat during charging, which can warm up confined spaces and potentially reduce efficiency in smaller setups.
- •EV charging functionality is misleading; the system cannot charge EV car batteries off-grid via its 120/240V port, despite promotional claims.
- •The product does not include the 30 amp RV plug and 30 amp wall connector, which must be purchased separately.
- •Battery monitoring and accuracy issues make it less suited for small or sensitive solar setups without advanced calibration or user expertise.
- •Installation documentation lacks detailed guidance on multiple recharging methods, making professional installation advisable for most users.
