TLDR Review: Echo Frames (2023)
Verdict
The new Amazon Echo Frames bring improved sound quality, better battery life, and a lightweight stylish design with handy Alexa integration wrapped in blue light filtering lenses. However, the quirky charging setup, uncomfortable fit for some, and slow prescription lens service may sour the experience if you want daily, all-day wear or heavy computer use. If seamless charging and more comfortable wear are priorities, you might want to consider waiting for future updates or exploring alternatives that focus on more intuitive controls and better lens options. For now, these frames shine for casual, active use with Alexa on the go but come with some usability caveats to keep in mind.
- Top pro:
- Setup is a breeze, connecting to Alexa effortlessly with clear instructions.
- Top con:
- The charging stand design is fiddly and demands precise placement, often causing frustration.

- •Blue light filtering lenses are a nice bonus, especially for contact lens wearers.
- •The glasses feel lightweight and comfortable for regular, casual use like walking or driving.
- •Battery life and sound performance have notably improved over the previous generation.
- •Attractive rectangle frames in Classic Black offer a stylish look, with multiple styles available.

Cons

- •The frames do not comfortably fit all users, even when sizing guidance is followed.
- •The charging dock is unstable and proprietary, lacking compatibility with standard chargers or cables.
- •Prescription lenses obtained through the partnered vendor initially suffered from poor AR coating and high light reflection, causing eye strain.
- •Lens replacement service is slow, taking over a month, and the final lenses were reportedly still inferior to less expensive alternatives.
- •Not comfortable for extended computer or close-up screen use; better suited for on-the-go activities than desk work.
- •Some users report charging reliability issues like blinking orange lights and failure to charge properly.
- •Customer service can be slow and complicated due to the product’s value restrictions.
