TLDR Review: DEWALT DWE7491RS Table Saw
Verdict
The DEWALT DWE7491RS 10-Inch Table Saw is a versatile, well-built machine that delivers power, accuracy, and portability for DIYers, contractors, and small-shop woodworkers. Its rack and pinion fence, folding stand, and effective dust collection set it apart from typical bench-top saws, providing a solid overall value. If you need portable power combined with a large rip capacity and don’t mind supplementing the miter gauge or safety features, this saw is a smart pick. For users who want heavier-duty legs or integrated advanced safety, looking into higher-end models or aftermarket add-ons might be necessary.
- Top pro:
- The powerful 15-amp motor easily cuts through various types of lumber and wood products with precision and smoothness.
- Top con:
- The motor can take a little time to reach full speed; best used on a dedicated circuit and preferably paired with a 20-amp extension cord to avoid power issues.
Pros
- •The powerful 15-amp motor easily cuts through various types of lumber and wood products with precision and smoothness.
- •The rack and pinion fence system is highly accurate, durable, and easy to adjust, ensuring clean, parallel cuts.
- •The folding, rolling stand enhances portability and allows for convenient storage, making it ideal for job sites or small workshops.
- •Large rip capacity of up to 32.5 inches on plywood enables cutting of sizable sheet goods with confidence.
- •Excellent overall build quality with a sturdy frame and solid base that minimizes wobble during operation.
- •Includes built-in storage for push-stick, anti-kickback pawls, blade guard, and riving knife, keeping essential accessories handy.
- •Dust collection is effective with most dust being directed through the collector chute, helping maintain a cleaner work environment.
- •Setup and assembly are straightforward enough for one person, though two make it easier; once assembled, the saw offers smooth operation.
- •Quieter than comparable models, such as Rigid saws, making for a more pleasant working experience.
- •Versatile and practical for homeowners, general contractors, and DIY woodworking projects, especially for ripping wood for fences, shelving, and custom furniture.
Cons
- •The motor can take a little time to reach full speed; best used on a dedicated circuit and preferably paired with a 20-amp extension cord to avoid power issues.
- •The miter gauge is functional but may feel underwhelming, leading many users to upgrade to a better one.
- •Folding legs, while space-saving, require careful handling as they are not designed for extremely heavy-duty use and can be a weak point in durability.
- •Lack of a SawStop safety feature means users need to consider aftermarket safety upgrades to enhance blade safety.
- •Limited built-in storage for the miter gauge and spare blades is a missed opportunity, though space under the saw may be adapted for custom storage.
- •While rip fence issues are mostly minor, occasional problems with alignment have been reported without affecting overall usability.
- •Large sheet cutting can demand two people or additional support due to the saw’s size and limited out-feed surface compared to larger, more industrial models.
- •Not designed for breaking down very large sheet goods as easily as some bigger saws; supplementary tools like track saws might be necessary for that task.
