TLDR Review: DEWALT DCV517B Vacuum
Verdict
The DEWALT DCV517B Baretool offers the portability and convenience you'd expect from a cordless wet/dry vacuum, but serious battery connection and power issues make it a gamble unless you already have a solid DEWALT battery ecosystem. If you want reliability and longer battery life, you might want to consider other cordless vacs with better-secured battery locks and more robust battery performance.
- Top pro:
- Compact and portable design makes it easy to carry around for quick cleanups.
- Top con:
- Battery connection to both the vacuum and charger is unreliable, frequently disconnecting with slightest movement.
Pros
- •Compact and portable design makes it easy to carry around for quick cleanups.
- •Works fairly well when the battery is fully charged, providing decent suction for a cordless vacuum.
- •Suitable as a bare tool if you already own compatible DEWALT 20V MAX batteries and chargers.
Cons
- •Battery connection to both the vacuum and charger is unreliable, frequently disconnecting with slightest movement.
- •Battery does not securely lock into place, making the cordless aspect frustrating and sometimes unusable.
- •Battery performance suffers from rapid power degradation due to high power draw.
- •Charger lacks a proper latch or clip to hold the battery firmly, requiring constant adjustment.
- •Hose is short, flimsy, and tends to pull out from the housing, reducing durability and ease of use.
- •Overall, power and battery issues significantly impact the vacuum’s convenience and reliability.
