TLDR Review: BioAdvanced 5 In 1 Weed and Feed
Verdict
While the BioAdvanced 5 In 1 Weed and Feed excels at greening your lawn and tackling certain weeds like crabgrass and dandelions, many users report limited success in weed control, especially with established weeds. Its best features are in lawn fertilization and weed prevention when applied under the right conditions, but its weed-killing performance can be hit or miss. If you're primarily after effective weed removal, you might want to explore dedicated weed control products or consider a different weed and feed formulation. Pros
- •Effective at eliminating a wide range of weeds including dandelions, clover, ground ivy, and crabgrass.
- •Produces a noticeable greening effect, making your lawn look darker and more vibrant.
- •Can outperform some professional services in weed eradication, lasting several months.
- •Promotes healthy grass growth when applied correctly.
- •Adds nitrogen, which enhances lawn greenness.
- •Shows promising results on tough weeds like crabgrass, even in neighboring untreated lawns.
- •Capable of killing weeds upon contact when applied properly.
- •Designed to be used a few times a year for maintaining a weed-free, lush lawn.
- •Application is effective if done during optimal conditions—dew-covered lawns and after rain or irrigation.
- •Covers enough area for approximately three applications on ¾ acre with three bags when using a rotary spreader.
Cons
- •Does not control weeds very effectively once they are established; many users noted ongoing weed problems.
- •Some weeds, like dandelions, may turn 'zombie weeds' and continue flowering and seeding even after dying back.
- •Odor can linger for days post-application, which some find unpleasant.
- •Requires careful handling and protective gear, plus a dry, moist lawn to be effective—won't work on dry grass.
- •Less effective at improving overall lawn health or controlling disease issues like dollar spot and brown patch.
- •Increased weed growth reported in some yards despite application, indicating poor weed control.
- •Application timing is critical—must be applied correctly during dew and with subsequent watering.
- •May require multiple applications over seasons for heavily weed-infested yards.
- •Some users found it less effective on certain turf types like zoysia grass—high-maintenance and prone to ongoing issues.
- •Odor and application precautions make it less convenient compared to pre-mixed, ready-to-use products.
