TLDR Review: ASUS ROG Kithara Headphones
Verdict
The ASUS ROG Kithara is a stellar choice for gamers and audiophiles who crave open-back planar magnetic headphones that deliver immersive, detailed sound with comfort for marathon sessions. If you have the gear to pair it with a quality DAC/amp, get ready for an impressive upgrade in audio clarity and spatial sound that beats most typical gaming headsets. However, if you need portability, wireless freedom, or robust noise isolation, you might want to explore other options. For example, if you're looking for slightly more versatility or wireless features, considering other ASUS or audiophile gaming headsets might be wise. We recommend the ROG Kithara for those prioritizing sound quality and comfort in a quiet environment and who don’t mind investing in extra audio gear.
- Top pro:
- Uses 100mm planar magnetic drivers tuned by ROG and HIFIMAN, delivering exceptional, detailed sound quality with a wide soundstage and natural imaging that reveals subtle audio details.
- Top con:
- As an open-back headphone, it offers very little noise isolation, making it less suitable for noisy or shared environments.
Pros
- •Uses 100mm planar magnetic drivers tuned by ROG and HIFIMAN, delivering exceptional, detailed sound quality with a wide soundstage and natural imaging that reveals subtle audio details.
- •Open-back design provides immersive, spacious audio ideal for gaming, music, and movies, enhancing positional accuracy and creating a more engaging experience.
- •Adjustable headband and large, breathable ear pads offer a comfortable fit for long gaming or listening sessions without causing fatigue.
- •Includes a high-quality MEMS boom microphone considered among the best for gaming headsets, with convenient mute and volume controls on the cord.
- •Versatile connectivity options including 3.5mm, 4.4mm balanced, and 6.35mm TRS adapters, plus USB-C for PC, making it compatible with DACs, amps, consoles, mobiles, and PCs.
- •Low 16 Ohm impedance allows use directly with various devices, although optimal performance is achieved with an external DAC/amp.
- •Swappable ear cups with leatherette pads provide enhanced bass response and comfort customization.
- •Smooth treble tuning reduces listening fatigue often associated with planar magnetic headphones.

Cons
- •As an open-back headphone, it offers very little noise isolation, making it less suitable for noisy or shared environments.
