TLDR Review: ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5060 Ti OC Edition
Verdict
If you’re building or upgrading a mid-range gaming PC focused on excellent 1080p or 1440p performance with the latest features like DLSS 4, this ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 5060 Ti OC Edition is a solid, quiet, and well-cooled option. However, don’t expect it to be your magic bullet for maxed-out 4K or ray tracing-heavy ultra settings in brand-new titles. For those aiming for smoother future-proofing or intensive 4K gaming, considering a higher-tier card might be smarter. Overall, it’s a great blend of modern tech, solid build, and strong performance for its price point.
- Top pro:
- Delivers excellent gaming performance at 1080p, often exceeding 90-120 FPS on both older and demanding newer titles at max settings.
- Top con:
- For the latest, most demanding AAA titles at ultra settings, this card runs at 100% GPU usage, so users seeking top-tier future-proofing might consider something like an RTX 5070 instead.
Pros
- •Delivers excellent gaming performance at 1080p, often exceeding 90-120 FPS on both older and demanding newer titles at max settings.
- •Equipped with 8GB of GDDR7 VRAM, providing sufficient memory for current games and solid future-proofing for the next few years.
- •Features advanced cooling technologies like Axial-tech fans and 0dB technology that keep temperatures low (idle around 32-50°C, load typically under 60°C) with near-silent operation.
- •Supports the latest standards: PCIe 5.0 interface, HDMI 2.1b, and DisplayPort 2.1b for modern connectivity and high refresh rates.
- •Excellent build quality from ASUS with a sturdy 2.5-slot design and a visually appealing aesthetic, suitable for vertical or horizontal mounting.
- •Improves significantly over previous-generation cards such as RTX 4060 and RTX 3060, especially in gaming and streaming performance.
- •Driver updates are reportedly more stable and polished compared to past RTX 30 series releases.
- •Good compatibility and performance with both modern and some older CPU setups, allowing the upgrade of PCs from 5-6 years ago.
- •Supports DLSS 4 and ray tracing features with notable improvements in image quality and frame rates over older GPUs.
- •Maintains stable performance without thermal throttling during extended gaming or creative workloads.
Cons
- •For the latest, most demanding AAA titles at ultra settings, this card runs at 100% GPU usage, so users seeking top-tier future-proofing might consider something like an RTX 5070 instead.
- •The large physical size requires ample case clearance, potentially complicating installation in smaller builds.
- •Installation can be slightly tricky due to the motherboard I/O shield and the card’s bulky design, though manageable with patience.
- •Although 8GB VRAM suffices now, some users eye 16GB cards for heavy 4K gaming or professional workloads, which this card does not offer.
- •Requires a strong power supply (recommended 1000W) especially if planning to overclock or run power-hungry systems.
- •Not a worthwhile upgrade for users switching from higher-end RTX 3060 Ti or 3070 cards since performance gains are less pronounced.
- •Ray tracing at 4K with max settings may require tweaking or lowering settings to maintain a smooth 60 FPS in some titles.
- •Some minor fan wobble was noticed by users, though it doesn’t lead to noise or reliability issues.
- •Idle fan speed control can lead to slightly higher temps if left at default settings, though still within safe limits.
