TLDR Review: Amazon Echo Studio
Verdict
The newest Amazon Echo Studio offers impressive immersive sound and Alexa performance that is a solid upgrade for multi-speaker home setups, especially when paired with Fire TV for rich audio in media. However, if you’re looking for a standalone powerhouse with full surround sound capabilities or the home theater connectivity from the original Echo Studio, this model currently falls short due to missing software features at launch. If raw high-fidelity sound combined with Alexa+ features is your priority and you plan to use it in a multi-speaker environment, this could delight you. Otherwise, it’s worth waiting for future updates to unlock full capabilities or considering alternative premium smart speakers if standalone soundstage and ready-to-go home theater support are critical.
- Top pro:
- Immersive spatial audio with Dolby Atmos provides a rich, detailed listening experience that surpasses previous Echo Studio models.
- Top con:
- Sound quality is inconsistent across reviews; some users find it disappointing, flat, or comparable to the less premium Echo Dot, lacking the depth expected from a Studio device.

Cons
- •Sound quality is inconsistent across reviews; some users find it disappointing, flat, or comparable to the less premium Echo Dot, lacking the depth expected from a Studio device.
- •The product was launched prematurely without essential software features like home theater pairing and multi-speaker connectivity, limiting standalone use and surround sound capabilities.
- •Home theater mode and full multi-speaker setups are currently unavailable, frustrating users who expected these from a premium model.
- •Single unit does not fill large rooms well, making it better suited as part of a multi-speaker system rather than a solo solution.
- •Equalizer adjustments provide little improvement to the sound experience for some users.
- •Ring light visibility can be poor in daylight, reducing the effectiveness of visual feedback for Alexa status.
- •The lack of clear communication about missing features prior to purchase has left some buyers feeling misled.
