Why this score?
The Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds earn a **high** score due to exceptional sound quality and industry-leading noise cancellation backed by advanced adaptive features. While professionals praise their rich audio experience and improved comfort, some customers report fit issues and underwhelming call quality, which detracts from the overall value, particularly given their premium price. - •Some users report occasional connectivity issues or minor bugs, particularly with multi-device use or app integration.
- •Earbuds can feel slightly harder to insert or remove due to the rounded design and glossy finish.
- •The premium price point might feel steep considering these quirks and additional cost for aftermarket ear tips.
Bottom Line
The Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds deliver top-tier audio quality and excellent noise cancellation packed into a lightweight, feature-rich package. They shine for music lovers who crave crisp sound, versatile controls, and smart features like adaptive sound and multipoint Bluetooth. However, if you have sensitive ears or want effortless noise cancellation on flights, you might want to test the fit carefully or compare with Bose QuietComfort Earbuds, which some users find offer a slightly better seal and ANC for similar premium pricing. Overall, these earbuds are a stylish, eco-friendly choice that will please audiophiles willing to tweak ear tips and tolerate a learning curve on controls.
