⚙️ How to Keep ShopSavvy Running in the Background on Desktop

The Desktop app can keep watching prices, monitoring deals, and checking on Auto-Buy targets even when the main window is closed — by living quietly in the menu bar and starting itself at login.

Background Price Monitoring

1. Open Settings → Background.
2. Toggle Background price monitoring on.
3. Background refresh follows each watched product's schedule — hourly, every four hours, or daily — and pauses automatically when your computer sleeps.

Menu Bar Icon

1. Still in Settings → Background, toggle Menu bar icon on.
2. The ShopSavvy icon appears in your Mac menu bar (top-right).
3. Click it for quick navigation, live refresh progress, and the timer to the next scheduled price check.

Auto-Start at Login

1. Toggle Start at login on in Settings → Background.
2. ShopSavvy will launch quietly into the menu bar every time you sign in to your Mac — no window, no Dock interruption.

Tips

• Closing the main window with these settings on will keep the app running in the background. If you want to fully quit, use Cmd+Q or Quit ShopSavvy from the menu bar.
• Background refresh respects the per-product schedule you set. If you want a watched product checked more often, change its schedule in the watched-product settings sidebar.
• Auto-Buy and Call for Me both rely on background monitoring — turn it off and they will only run while the app window is open.
