Retailer Report Cards: See How a Retailer Stacks Up Before You Buy
Before you check out at a retailer, there's a bunch of stuff you probably wish you knew. How long do you have to return something? Do they price-match? Is their loyalty program actually worth joining?
We put up Retailer Report Cards so you can find out in about ten seconds.
What's graded
Each report card gives the retailer a letter grade across the stuff that affects you as a shopper:
- Return policy โ window length, restocking fees, holiday extensions, in-store vs. online returns
- Price matching โ who they'll match, post-purchase adjustment windows, how to actually request it
- Shipping โ free thresholds, standard delivery times, same-day availability, store pickup
- Payment methods โ Apple Pay, PayPal, Buy Now Pay Later, gift cards, store credit cards
- Loyalty program โ cost to join, how you earn, what the tiers actually get you
- Customer service โ chat, phone, email, typical response times
- Pricing transparency โ fake sales frequency, strikethrough honesty, whether they use dynamic pricing
- Privacy โ whether they sell your data, notable breach history
- Trust ratings โ Trustpilot, BBB, Sitejabber, app store scores all in one place
There's also company basics (founded, HQ, revenue, employees) and our own price data on the retailer: average variance vs. MSRP, how many real sale events they run per year.
