If you're looking into the Squirrel Solution200 Bird Feeder, you're probably trying to enjoy watching birds without squirrels raiding the food. This feeder has a clever weight-sensitive mechanism that closes when heavier animals like squirrels try to snack. Our research found that it generally keeps squirrels at bay, though a few particularly determined ones have managed to find ways around it by doing things like hanging upside down.
Still, it usually gives them a pretty tough time.
When it comes to the kinds of birds that can use this feeder, it's suitable for smaller to medium-sized birds. Birds like finches, chickadees, and sparrows are frequent visitors because they can easily access the feeding ports.
Now, about setting it up correctly: make sure to place the feeder at least 18 inches away from any tree, wall, or vertical surface to keep the squirrels from reaching in from the side. This little bit of distance really helps the feeder do its job more effectively.
While the Squirrel Solution200 is great at keeping out squirrels, it might not stop every larger bird. Some crows, for instance, could figure out a way to get to the seeds.
But overall, this feeder does a solid job and is a sturdy option for those who love birdwatching minus the squirrel drama.
