Yes, the OnePlus 15 is exceptionally water resistant with the highest water resistance rating of any mainstream smartphone—IP69K.
Complete IP Rating Breakdown
| Rating | What It Means | |--------|--------------| | IP68 | 1.5 meters underwater for 30 minutes | | IP66 | Protection against powerful water jets | | IP69 | Resistance to steam cleaning | | IP69K | High-pressure, high-temperature water jets from any direction |
What IP69K Actually Means
The IP69K rating confirms the phone can withstand:
- Water pressure up to 100 bar
- Water temperature up to 80°C (176°F)
- Jets from any direction, including close range
This is equivalent to car wash conditions—reviewers have tested OnePlus phones with this rating in actual dishwashers.
How It Compares
Most flagship phones—including the iPhone 16 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra—only carry IP68 certification. The OnePlus 15's IP69K rating significantly exceeds this standard.
Important Limitations
- Fresh water only: IP ratings are tested with fresh water. Saltwater and chlorinated pool water may cause damage
- Wear over time: Water resistance seals can degrade with normal use
- Warranty: Water damage may not be covered despite the IP rating
Bottom line: The OnePlus 15 handles accidental water exposure with confidence, but intentional submersion is still not recommended.
