The OnePlus 15 runs warmer than average during intensive tasks, though this is unlikely to be a practical concern for most users.
Temperature Testing
| Condition | Temperature | |-----------|-------------| | Average (stress test) | 102°F (39°C) | | Peak (stress test) | 115°F (46°C) |
These temperatures are noticeable but within safe operating limits.
When Heat Occurs
The phone runs warm during:
- Extended gaming at high settings
- 4K/8K video recording
- Using the phone while fast charging
- Benchmark testing
Normal daily activities—browsing, messaging, social media—maintain comfortable temperatures.
Context
Among Snapdragon 8 Elite devices, the OnePlus 15's thermal performance is average. This powerful processor generates heat under load across all phones using it.
Heat Management Features
- Bypass charging: Powers phone directly during gaming, skipping the battery
- Performance modes: Balanced, High Performance, and Power Saving
- Thermal throttling: Automatically reduces performance to prevent overheating
Practical Advantage
The 7,300mAh battery helps: you can game extensively without needing to charge, avoiding the "gaming while charging" scenario that generates the most heat.
Bottom line: The phone warms under heavy use but includes protective measures. Most users won't experience issues during normal daily use.
