The OnePlus 15 receives 4 years of Android OS updates plus 2 additional years of security patches, totaling 6 years of software support.
Support Timeline
| Support Type | Duration | |-------------|----------| | Android OS Updates | 4 years | | Security Patches | 6 years total | | Launch OS | Android 16 | | Final Expected OS | Android 20 |
Competitor Comparison
| Brand | OS Updates | |-------|------------| | Samsung Galaxy S25 | 7 years | | Google Pixel 10 | 7 years | | Apple iPhone 16 | ~5-6 years | | OnePlus 15 | 4 years |
Samsung and Google offer significantly longer support.
Practical Impact
Upgrade every 2-3 years: 4 years of updates is more than sufficient.
Keep phones 5+ years: The shorter support window represents a real value concern compared to competitors.
Context
The 4-year commitment is an improvement from OnePlus's past policies but remains a common criticism at flagship pricing.
OxygenOS Quality
OxygenOS is well-regarded for its clean Android experience and customization options, though OxygenOS 16 has received some criticism for iOS-like design elements.
Bottom line: 4 years of OS updates covers most upgrade cycles. Users prioritizing longevity should consider Samsung or Google.
