The OnePlus 15 gets 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security patches. It ships with Android 16 (OxygenOS 16), so you'll get updates through Android 19.

Is that enough? Depends on how you use phones.

If you're like most people and upgrade every 3-4 years, you'll never run into the end of support. The phone will be current for as long as you own it. No issues.

But if you're the type who uses phones until they physically die, this is where competitors like Samsung and Google pull ahead. Both now offer 7 years of full updates. That's a significant difference if you're planning to keep a phone for 5+ years.

About the software itself, OxygenOS 16 has gotten mixed reviews. The good stuff: new Flux Themes let you customize lock and home screens nicely, the Smart Sidebar is useful for quick access to features, and multitasking is smooth.

The complaints? Some users say it feels "heavier" than OxygenOS 15 on the OnePlus 13. The visual style now looks more like OPPO's ColorOS, which makes sense since OnePlus and OPPO share a parent company, but longtime OnePlus fans miss the cleaner aesthetic. The Shelf feature annoys some people by interrupting normal use. And weirdly, the haptic feedback got worse compared to the OnePlus 13, which had incredible haptics.

My take: don't skip the OnePlus 15 because of software support unless you genuinely plan to keep it for 5+ years. For typical usage patterns, 4 years of OS updates is perfectly adequate. The software itself is good, just maybe not quite as polished as previous generations.
