No, the OnePlus 15 does not have the traditional alert slider. This signature feature has been replaced with a programmable AI button.
What Changed
The alert slider was a three-position physical switch (Ring/Vibrate/Silent) allowing instant, tactile sound mode changes without looking at the screen.
The Replacement
The new programmable button can be customized for:
- OnePlus AI feature activation
- App launching
- Shortcut triggers
- Voice assistant access
Managing Sound Modes Now
Without the slider, sound mode changes require:
- Volume buttons + on-screen controls
- Quick Settings toggle
- Do Not Disturb scheduling
Why This Matters
The alert slider was one of OnePlus's most beloved features, appreciated for:
- Instant sound mode switching
- Tactile feedback without looking
- Reliability in meetings
Context
This change reflects OnePlus moving toward mainstream smartphone conventions, gradually retiring distinctive OnePlus elements.
Bottom line: The alert slider is gone, replaced by a more versatile but less specialized programmable button.
