The StudBuddy Plus® Magnetic Stud Finder is pretty dependable if you're working with standard drywall, which is common in most modern homes. It doesn't require batteries, and it uses strong magnets to find nails and screws in wood and metal studs behind the drywall. So, if you're into DIY projects and prefer simple and reliable tools, it works well in those situations.

However, it's important to know that this stud finder isn't suitable for all wall types. According to the manufacturer's description, it might not perform well on lath and plaster walls because those are denser and thicker. The magnet strength that works on drywall might struggle in these cases. If your home has these older wall types, you may need a different tool that's meant for them.

Our research shows that many people are happy with how the StudBuddy works on drywall. They like its simplicity and how accurately it finds nails and screws. Some folks even prefer it over electronic stud finders, which can sometimes be inconsistent.

But there are a few mentions of it struggling with unusual wall setups or when studs aren't nailed in regular patterns, which can happen in some construction styles.

So, if your walls are mainly drywall and you want an easy, efficient tool, the StudBuddy Plus® Magnetic Stud Finder is a good option. Just keep in mind that it might not work as well on different wall materials or unusual stud layouts.

Understanding these limits can help set your expectations and make it a helpful tool for your DIY projects, like hanging pictures or putting up shelves, when the conditions are right.
