It sounds like the DART Original Hemp Wick Canister could be a handy little gadget for camping. People often like it as a more natural and eco-friendly way to start a fire, compared to a regular lighter or matches. It's got a 10-foot roll of hemp wick in there, which is coated with beeswax — all natural stuff, according to the manufacturer. Plus, the metal canister it comes in is pretty sturdy.
One thing that stands out is how portable it is. The canister’s small enough to latch onto your keychain or tuck into a tiny pocket in your backpack. The manufacturer's description says the hemp wick burns at a lower temperature, which is supposedly better for the taste of whatever you're lighting, compared to the usual butane lighters.
But, based on our research, you might run into a few annoyances. Some folks have mentioned that the wick can get tangled inside the canister, and untangling it can be a bit of a pain. You might even have to take the canister apart to sort it out.
There's also the occasional need to re-wrap the wax line, which isn't always convenient when you're out in the woods.
So, while the DART Hemp Wick Canister seems like a great eco-friendly choice for camping, be prepared for these minor inconveniences with tangling and maintenance. If you can handle a little bit of extra work, it might just be a solid addition to your camping gear.
