So, the internal rim width for the Zipp 303 Firecrest Carbon Disc Brake Wheel is 25mm, according to the manufacturer's specs. This width seems to be quite versatile, and it works well with a variety of tire sizes. If you're into wider tires for road or gravel riding, this could be a good match.
The 25mm width is in line with the trend of using wider tires, which often means better aerodynamics, lower rolling resistance, and more comfort on different terrains. Essentially, it helps the tire sit better on the rim, making your ride smoother and more stable.
Now, if you're choosing between the Shimano/SRAM version or the XDR version of this wheel, there's no difference in the internal rim width—it's the same for both. So, no matter what drivetrain you're running, you’ll get the same benefits from this rim design.
From what we've gathered, folks who use the Zipp 303 Firecrest appreciate its light carbon build and aerodynamic design. It’s also tubeless-ready, so setting it up for lower tire pressures is easier, which can be a big plus for puncture resistance and overall performance.
Overall, if you're looking to upgrade, this wheel seems to offer a nice balance of lightweight, durability, and aerodynamics, making it a solid option whether you're hitting the road or the gravel trails.
