The Sun Joe CJ603E Electric Wood Chipper is a handy tool for handling moderate yard debris like twigs, leaves, and smaller branches, thanks to its 15-amp motor. It's designed to chip branches up to 1.73 inches in diameter, which is pretty decent for typical residential use.
However, when it comes to wet or green branches, our research points out that the CJ603E does better with dry branches, ideally around 1.5 inches or smaller. It can handle branches up to the max size, but with wet or green ones, you might notice it working harder, potentially slowing down or occasionally jamming.
So, if you've got lots of wet or green stuff, breaking them down into smaller bits or letting them dry out a bit beforehand could make things easier.
A heads-up on noise: even though it's advertised as 'silent', a lot of folks say it's about as loud as a lawn mower or vacuum cleaner.
So, if you're planning a long session, maybe grab some ear protection. As for the mulch, while it's good for chipping, if you're after a super fine mulch, you might need to run things through it more than once.
All in all, the Sun Joe CJ603E is pretty solid for regular yard cleanups with mainly small, dry branches. Just keep in mind its limitations with noise, mulching, and handling tougher or wetter stuff.
Also, using the recommended extension cords from the manufacturer’s guidelines helps ensure it runs smoothly and lasts longer.
