The COSTWAY Scarecrow Motion Activated Animal Repellent is designed to help keep deer and other critters like cats and raccoons out of your garden. It works by spraying a quick burst of water whenever it detects motion, scaring the animals off without hurting them. You just hook it up to a regular garden hose, and it runs on a 9-volt battery that's supposed to last up to six months, according to the manufacturer.
However, our research reveals mixed results concerning its effectiveness. Some folks have had success with it, saying they've noticed fewer deer roaming around their gardens. They believe the sudden water spray does the trick in scaring them away.
To get the most out of the scarecrow, a few people suggest using plumbing tape to prevent leaks and recommend bringing it inside during freezing weather to extend its life. These tweaks can help it work better throughout the year.
On the downside, there are some complaints about the motion detector not being reliable. It seems that sometimes it doesn't activate, or it picks up things it shouldn’t, like wind or shadows, affecting consistent performance.
Additionally, some have noted that the water spray isn’t powerful enough, letting smarter animals get used to it eventually. There have also been issues reported about leaks and the overall durability, with some thinking there might be design flaws or inefficient sensors.
In short, while the COSTWAY Scarecrow has the potential to keep unwanted visitors at bay, it might need a few tweaks and regular maintenance depending on your environment.
Making sure it's set up right and taking into account local conditions like lighting can help you get the best results. Its performance can vary, so keeping an eye on what works best for your garden will be important to see if this solution meets your needs.
