The InSinkErator Badger 5XP Garbage Disposal is generally pretty straightforward to install, but there are a few things to keep in mind for a smooth setup.
First off, the model doesn't come with a power cord, as it's meant to be hardwired. This isn't unusual for garbage disposals, but if you're replacing an old one, you might be able to use your existing power cord if it's a match. If not, you'll need to buy one separately.
From what we've found, folks who've done similar projects might find the installation pretty simple. The InSinkErator's Lift and Latch technology is a hit with some for making the attachment to the sink mount easier. However, there can be some hiccups if you're missing certain parts or need extra tools, like a cord kit, before starting.
If you're used to setting up garbage disposals, you'll likely find it quick and easy. But if it's your first time with this type of hardware, you might want to consider getting a professional to help out.
A tip we came across is to gather all the equipment and parts you need beforehand to avoid any unexpected setbacks.
The Badger 5XP comes with a 3/4 HP motor, which people like for its power in handling food waste. So before you get to enjoy that, just make sure you've got those installation basics covered, especially if you're doing a new install.
Hope this gives you a good idea of what to expect, so you can plan ahead and get your Badger 5XP up and running smoothly!
