The Google Nest Doorbell (Wired) comes prepared with night vision to keep an eye on your doorstep, no matter the time. Based on the manufacturer's description, you get round-the-clock streaming, so you won't miss anything, even in the dark.
But, just a heads up, for nonstop recording, you'd need to sign up for a Nest Aware Plus subscription. Without it, you'll still have a three-hour window of event-based recordings to check out recent happenings.
If you do opt for the Nest Aware Plus, it opens up full 24/7 video history, letting you look back at recordings from any time—it’s a solid peace-of-mind feature for home security. This aspect gets props from some reviews, like The Verge, which highlights its Familiar Faces feature coupled with continuous recording, noting it's not something many other doorbells offer.
As for night vision, our research suggests the Nest Doorbell does a good job in low-light settings, keeping things clear whether it's day or night. This function really stands out for seeing people, deliveries, or any unexpected visitors clearly, even at night. The capability to provide quality footage consistently is a big win.
To get the best of these features, you'll want a strong Wi-Fi setup. The doorbell might struggle if you're only on a 2.4GHz connection. Using the 5GHz band could help keep things smooth, ensuring both continuous recording and night vision are working as they should.
In short, while the Nest Doorbell has impressive night vision and recording abilities, you might need to think about a couple of extra investments—like that Nest Aware Plus and a solid Wi-Fi setup. Doing so ensures you're making the most of its security features.
