If you're wondering whether the Sea to Summit Permethrin-Treated Mosquito Head Net can fit over a wide-brimmed hat, the good news is it probably can. The manufacturer's description mentions that it has an elasticized drawstring closure, which helps it fit snugly over most hats, even those with wider brims.
The mesh of the net is really fine, with about 500 holes per square inch. This design strikes a good balance between air flow and keeping bugs out, so even in buggy areas, you're less likely to have your view obstructed by mosquitoes.
One extra perk is that the net is treated with permethrin. This treatment acts as a repellent, adding another layer of protection against flying bugs. A lot of people who've tried it appreciate this feature, saying it makes a noticeable difference in keeping mosquitoes at bay.
Some folks did mention that it's generally more effective if you wear it over a hat. This setup helps keep the net from sitting directly on your skin, which can make the net work a bit better. Just a heads-up, though—while the permethrin treatment works well for most insects, some smaller pests, like no-see-ums, might still get through.
So, if you're planning on using it with a wide-brimmed hat, the Sea to Summit Mosquito Head Net should do the job and help make your time outdoors more enjoyable.
