The OnePlus 15's thermal performance generated early concerns, but software updates have addressed the most significant issues.
Initial Problems
At launch, some reviewers reported:
- Temperatures reaching 52.7°C (127°F) during stress tests
- Phone shutting down or refusing to run apps until cooled
- Significant throttling under sustained heavy loads
Post-Update Performance
OnePlus released updates to refine thermal management. Current testing shows:
Gaming (Real-World Usage)
| Game | Performance | Temperature | |------|-------------|-------------| | Genshin Impact (max) | 59-60 FPS stable | ~41°C (106°F) | | PUBG Mobile | 118+ FPS | ~37°C (99°F) |
Stress Testing
- Now completes tests that previously caused shutdowns
- Sustained performance drops to ~60% (typical for flagships)
- No more unexpected thermal shutdowns
Cooling System
The 360 Cryo-Velocity Cooling System includes:
- 5,731mm² vapor chamber
- Front-mounted screen cooler
- White graphite back cover
- Multi-layer heat dissipation
Real-World Assessment
For actual gaming and daily use, the OnePlus 15 handles heat well. You'll notice warmth during extended sessions, but temperatures stay within comfortable ranges. The phone maintains playable performance without aggressive throttling during typical use.
Synthetic benchmarks will trigger throttling, but this applies to virtually every flagship phone and doesn't reflect normal usage patterns.
Verdict: Early thermal concerns have been addressed. Safe for gaming with stable, comfortable temperatures. Check OnePlus 15 availability at current prices.
