Yep, the CyberPower CP900AVR UPS does work with Macs. It's a solid option for battery backup and surge protection for various devices, including Macs, according to the manufacturer's description. It's got a capacity of 900VA and 560W, and includes Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to help keep things stable during power surges.
But, let's dive into the specifics for Mac users. From what we've gathered, this UPS generally performs well during power outages. However, there have been some reports of connectivity issues when using the USB interface with Mac devices. That said, most folks find it gets the job done for general power backup needs.
This unit gives you 10 outlets to work with: five are battery-backed and five are only for surge protection, which is handy for hooking up multiple devices. Its compact mini-tower design means it can fit in smaller spaces, like under a desk—great for home offices or tight setups.
For backup duration, we’ve seen that it gives about 17 minutes of backup time for a typical PC with external drives. Simpler setups like routers can last even longer, with some users noting up to 1 hour and 50 minutes, depending on the load.
While it generally gets good marks, there are mixed reviews about its long-term reliability and customer service. A few people have reported issues like premature battery failure, which is something to keep an eye on.
So, in a nutshell, the CyberPower CP900AVR UPS can be a practical choice for protecting your Mac and other electronics during power outages. Just be aware of the noted connectivity quirks with Macs and keep an eye on its long-term performance.
