- Heart rate during swimming
Set your pool length before starting for the most accurate distance measurements.

- Butterfly: approximately 85%
- Backstroke and breaststroke: approximately 75-80%
Pre-Swim Preparation
- Enable Water Lock mode by swiping down and tapping the water droplet icon
- Set your pool length for lap swimming
- Ensure a snug band fit for heart rate accuracy
Post-Swim Care
- Rinse with fresh water after pool or ocean exposure
- Hold the home button to activate water expel and clear the speaker
- Dry completely before charging
Important Limitations
- Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms (heat damages seals)
- Skip high-pressure water activities like jet skiing
- GPS doesn't function underwater, affecting open water distance accuracy
- Don't press buttons while submerged
The Galaxy Watch 8 handles swimming well for fitness tracking purposes. For open water swimming, distance measurements may vary since GPS only connects when your arm breaks the surface.
