Bottom Line
The WD 18TB My Book Desktop External Hard Drive offers a massive storage capacity with reliable hardware quality, but is plagued by significant software inadequacies and performance issues, which might make it a less optimal choice for professional use. If software usability and backup efficiency are critical for your needs, you may want to consider alternative drives, especially if you have prior experience with brand performance or specific requirements for seamless file transfers and temperature management.
