- •Glare-free OLED technology and Dynamic Black Equalizer enhance visibility and detail in dark scenes for immersive gaming.
- •Decent built-in speakers add convenience for casual viewing without extra audio gear.
- •Height-adjustable stand with swivel and tilt promotes ergonomic comfort and easy positioning.
- •Includes a remote control that helps manage inputs and Smart Monitor functions without reaching behind the monitor.
- •Samsung software offers good adjustable settings for color calibration and user customization.
- •Larger 32-inch size offers more screen real estate for productivity and gaming compared to smaller monitors.
Cons
- •Smart TV-like features can be intrusive during regular PC use, with frequent WiFi connection prompts and UI pop-ups that may block the taskbar for 30-45 seconds.
- •Internal speakers cannot be fully disabled, often forcing the PC to default audio to the monitor unexpectedly, which can be annoying.
- •Reliance on the remote control to switch inputs and manage settings feels cumbersome for typical desktop setups.
- •Height adjustment is somewhat limited and not as smooth or flexible as some previous models.
- •Some users report occasional brief black flickers, possibly related to non-native resolution gameplay, which could be distracting.
- •Fixed gamma settings (2.2) and persistent localized dimming effects cannot be turned off, which may disappoint HDR enthusiasts.
- •The panel housing feels fragile, causing concerns about durability when mounting or repositioning.
- •Compared to some less expensive monitors, it may seem overpriced given certain usability and feature quirks.
Bottom Line
If you want a jaw-dropping 32-inch 4K OLED gaming monitor with ultra-fast refresh and response times, superb color, and smart features built-in, the SAMSUNG Odyssey QD-OLED G8 (G80SD) is a premium choice for immersive gaming and multimedia. However, it’s important to know this monitor blurs the line between smart TV and PC display—expect some smart TV annoyances like pop-ups, forced audio defaults, and reliance on a remote that might frustrate traditional desktop users. If you prioritize a clean, dedicated gaming monitor experience without those quirks, you might want to consider more traditional high-refresh LCD gaming monitors instead. Otherwise, for those who value stunning OLED visuals with smart functionality baked in, this monitor is hard to beat.
