Pros
- •Automatically refills to ensure pets have a consistent water supply.
- •Effective for busy pet owners as it reduces the stress of pets running out of water.
- •Can keep pets hydrated for 3-4 days, even for larger breeds like Golden Retrievers.
- •Simple gravity-fed system without the need for complicated filters or setup.
- •Suitable for both cats and dogs.
Cons
- •The water jug is very heavy when full, making it difficult to flip or handle.
- •No built-in filtration system, unlike smaller bowls available.
- •Loud noise when refilling might scare sensitive dogs.
- •Difficult to clean due to a narrow opening and 90-degree turn, with potential hygiene issues such as mildew.
- •External leaks have been reported, possibly due to a design flaw.
Bottom Line
The Petmate Pet Cafe Waterer is a convenient option for pet owners who want an automatic watering solution. However, it has notable drawbacks, such as being cumbersome when full and challenging to clean, which could lead to hygiene issues. This makes it more suitable for indoor use and owners comfortable with occasional maintenance. For those needing a lightweight and filtered solution, exploring smaller, filtered bowls might be beneficial.
