- •Noticeably more powerful than lower capacity batteries, delivering increased torque across tools like weedeaters, circular saws, and impact drivers
- •Batteries maintain consistent performance throughout extended use without noticeable power drops
- •Excellent runtime capability, especially with brushless motors, allowing you to complete full projects without frequent recharging
- •Performs equally in power to premium PowerStack batteries at a more affordable price point
- •Comes with two batteries for extended usage time, perfect for simultaneous multi-person projects or continuous work
- •Fast charging capability with the included charger means minimal downtime between uses
- •Long charge retention, so batteries stay ready even after extended storage periods
- •Works reliably across a wide variety of DIY projects, from small tasks to larger builds like an 8x8 platform
- •No durability issues reported by users
Cons
- •Battery attachment mechanism is difficult to insert and remove from both the sander and charger, which can be frustrating during frequent battery swaps
- •Higher capacity battery pack drains quickly when used with power saws and other high-demand tools
- •No built-in protection circuit; relies on the tool itself to prevent over-discharging, requiring custom integration if using with DIY accessories
Bottom Line
This is a solid choice if you're building a DEWALT 20V MAX tool collection and want the power upgrade over basic batteries without the premium price tag of PowerStack models. The two included 5Ah batteries deliver noticeably more torque and runtime than lower capacity options, making them ideal for serious DIY projects and professional-grade work. Just be aware that the battery attachment can be a bit snug, and you'll want to monitor usage with power-hungry tools like saws. Overall, reviewers highly recommend this starter kit as an excellent value for extending your tool runtime and capability.
