- •Lightweight and compact design, making it easy to maneuver and handle
- •Good fuel efficiency allows longer operation without frequent refueling
- •Comes with useful accessories like a bottle of 2-cycle oil, owner's manual, and a sturdy carrying case
- •Features a low kickback bar and chain brake for added safety
- •The powerful 42cc engine provides ample power for typical home tree trimming tasks
- •Handles smaller cuts well, and the chain oiler keeps the chain properly lubricated
- •Quiet operation compared to some other 2-cycle chainsaws, reducing noise fatigue
Cons
- •Some reviews mention issues with the chain tensioner, though often related to user error
- •The product description may be misleading, as it states a heavy-duty case is included, but some customers did not receive it
- •The air filter construction appears to be cost-cutting, which could affect long-term durability
- •Performance may be limited with larger or more aggressive cuts, not suited for heavy-duty logging
- •Lacks a dedicated storage or carrying case for easier portability—though a case is included, it might not be the heavy-duty type expected
- •Slightly challenging to handle for users with limited strength due to power and size
- •Does not support professional or heavy-duty commercial use; best suited for casual or homeowner tasks
Bottom Line
The NEW CRAFTSMAN S1600 chainsaw offers solid performance for small to medium wood-cutting tasks around the home. Its reliable start-up, lightweight design, and safety features make it especially beginner-friendly. However, be aware that some packaging inconsistencies exist regarding the included case, and its power may be insufficient for large, aggressive cuts. If you're seeking a dependable saw for light to moderate work, this model is a strong candidate, but for heavy-duty tasks, you might want to consider something more heavy-duty or professional-grade.
