- •Exceptional noise cancellation that effectively blocks out around 90% of ambient sound, outperforming many competitors including AirPods Max in windy or noisy environments.
- •Immersive spatial audio experience with Bose Immersive Audio and CustomTune technology creates a natural and engaging soundstage, especially great for movies, games, and detailed music listening.
- •Superior sound quality with a full, dynamic, and accurate sound profile that appeals to serious listeners and audiophiles alike.
- •Comfortable over-ear design with soft, cushioned earcups and an evenly distributing headband, making them suitable for extended wear, even for users with larger heads or glasses.
- •Long battery life of up to 24 hours (18 hours with immersive audio on) plus quick charging ensures uninterrupted listening during travel or workdays.
- •Premium build quality featuring metal hinges and luxe materials, combined with a well-designed, protective carrying case for secure storage.
- •Handy features like clear battery percentage display, Google Fast Pair, Snapdragon Sound certification for Android, and SimpleSync technology to pair with Bose soundbars.
- •Customizable sound settings via the Bose Music app allow users to adjust EQ to their preference, enhancing bass, mids, and highs for personalized listening.
- •Reliable Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity with stable switching between wireless and wired modes for versatile use.
- •Innovative microphone system that focuses on voice for crystal-clear phone calls in noisy environments.
Cons
- •The premium price positions these headphones as a luxury item, which might not fit every budget despite the high-quality performance.
- •Requires power to operate even when used wired, unlike some wired headphones that function passively without charging—this could be inconvenient in certain situations.
- •The headphone controls are somewhat minimal and require a short learning curve; volume control can feel unintuitive at first but improves with use.
- •The carrying case, while protective and upscale, can be a bit tricky to fit the headphones into without practice.
- •Occasional reports of minor startup delays or difficulties turning the headphones on, which could be resolved with firmware updates.
- •While noise cancellation is excellent, very quiet background sounds like public announcements sometimes still pass through.
- •The immersive audio mode, although impressive, may require adjustment for long-familiar music tracks to avoid an unnatural feel.
- •Ear cups can get slightly warm during extended use, which may impact comfort for some users in hotter environments.
Bottom Line
The Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones are an impressive blend of **industry-leading noise cancellation, immersive spatial audio, and premium comfort** perfect for audiophiles, travelers, and anyone serious about sound quality. They justify their luxury price with features tailored for critical listening and long sessions. However, if you want to save some money and don’t need advanced spatial audio or the very latest tech, the Bose QuietComfort 45 remains a solid, more budget-friendly option with very good noise cancellation and comfort. For those seeking immersive audio and the best noise cancellation money can buy, the Ultra is definitely worth considering.
