Pros
- •Excellent at picking up pet hair and long hair in tight spaces, with a dedicated pet hair attachment that works well despite lacking a motorized brush
- •Compact and lightweight design (3.25 lbs) makes it easy to handle and ideal for quick cleanups in small rooms or cars
- •Flexible hose extends cleaning reach up to 4 feet, allowing access to hard-to-reach areas
- •Easy to disassemble and clean with a simple, secure dustbin and washable filter
- •Versatile attachments included: crevice tool, brush tool, and pet hair tool for various cleaning needs
- •Cyclonic action helps keep filters clear, maintaining suction efficiency during use
- •Ergonomic design feels comfortable to hold for most users
- •Charging stand offers convenient storage and charging (though placement must be flat and level)
- •Holds a charge well over years of occasional use
Cons
- •Battery life is shorter than many competing handheld vacuums, lasting around 15–30 minutes which can be limiting for larger jobs
- •Requires about 4 hours to fully recharge, which some find inconvenient
- •Suction power is strong for everyday messes but weaker and disappointing for tougher, heavy-duty cleaning compared to expectations
- •The vacuum is noisier and louder than many competitors, which can be annoying for some users
- •Some users find it requires two hands to operate effectively due to the flexible hose and attachments design, reducing ease of use
- •Build quality is generally good but some components, like the charging stand and attachment caddy, feel cheap or poorly designed
- •Attachment storage caddy is less secure than previous models, causing attachments to fall off easily
- •Charging tray demands a flat, level surface; improper placement prevents charging
- •Some reviews note sudden battery failures and issues with charging indicators, which may hint at inconsistent quality control
Bottom Line
The BLACK+DECKER dustbuster FLEX (BDH2020FL) is a solid choice if you want a lightweight, versatile handheld vacuum that excels at pet hair and quick cleanups in tight spots or vehicles. However, its relatively short battery life, moderate suction power, and somewhat noisy operation might frustrate those expecting a powerhouse or extended runtime. If you prioritize longer battery life or quieter operation, you might want to consider other models—though this one remains a dependable pick for everyday messes and pet owners. If battery runtime or improved suction is your top priority, alternatives may serve you better. But for pet hair removal and flexibility, this vacuum holds its ground.
