- •Easy installation for DIYers, especially if you have a pre-plumbed soft water loop, with most users completing it in about 2 hours or less after some experience.
- •Sharkbite connectors simplify plumbing work, eliminating the need for welding or complex fittings.
- •Noticeable improvement in water softness and quality right after first use, with softer skin and hair reported.
- •The unit comes fully equipped with all necessary hoses, tubes, and valves, plus a clear manual and online installation videos to guide the process.
- •Uses less salt than previous Aquasure models, making it more efficient and cost-effective over time.
- •Fine mesh resin does a solid job removing iron and reducing water hardness dramatically—from about 250 PPM hardness and 5 PPM iron down to much softer water at 25 PPM hardness.
- •Customizable digital control head with options like pre-flush time and reserve gallons makes programming straightforward and flexible.
- •High-quality build and reliable performance praised by many users, plus expected resin lifespan around 20 years with proper maintenance.
- •Responsive and knowledgeable customer service that helps quickly troubleshoot and resolve minor installation or performance issues.
- •Works best in combination with a triple pre-filter or whole house filter, significantly enhancing water taste and quality.
Cons
- •Initial installation can be tricky for some, with issues reported around brine tank hose pressure and quick-connect fittings leaking if not seated perfectly.
- •Fine mesh resin may clog faster than standard resin, requiring occasional cleaning additives to maintain optimal performance.
- •Some users encountered minor leaks during regeneration due to poor fitting connections, especially when hard piping and Teflon tape were used instead of rubber washers and corrugated tubing.
- •Professional installation is recommended for those without plumbing experience, as improper setup can cause leaks or damage.
- •The weight is moderate but may require two people to move and install the unit safely.
- •Resin cleaning requires periodic maintenance with additives; neglecting this might reduce resin lifespan or effectiveness.
- •While customer support is excellent, some installation challenges demand patience and careful attention to detail.
Bottom Line
The Aquasure Harmony Series Water Softener plus Iron Removal unit offers a strong balance of effective water softening and iron removal at a competitive price, especially for DIY-enthusiasts willing to invest a couple of hours into installation. Its fine mesh resin and digital controls give you customized water treatment with less salt use and lasting durability. However, if you’re not confident in handling plumbing tasks or want a completely worry-free setup, professional installation is advisable due to some finicky fittings and resin maintenance needs. For those who want a solid system combining iron removal with water softening and don’t mind a bit of hands-on care, this unit is a smart pick.
