Pros
- •Offers versatile fitness and sleep tracking with a reliable heart rate monitor that motivates improvement.
- •Attractive midnight aluminum case with a comfortable, lightweight sport band that feels great for all-day wear.
- •Features an always-on display and bright, clear screen that enhances usability, along with customizable watch faces.
- •Smooth and fast performance powered by the same S10 chip found in the latest Apple Watch models, with easy iPhone setup.
- •Battery life generally lasts through a full day of typical use, including workouts and notifications, with about 36 hours on a single charge for some users.
- •Supports convenient double tap gesture control, wrist flicks, and USB-C fast charging, adding to its modern usability.
- •Cellular option allows some level of phone-free connectivity for calls and messages without the iPhone nearby.
- •Seamless integration within the Apple ecosystem, making it a great companion for iPhone users.
- •Considered a solid value for users who want everyday functionality and style without splurging on the highest-end Apple Watch models.
- •Durable and water-resistant for everyday wear and fitness activities.
Cons
- •Lacks advanced health features such as ECG and blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring found in Apple Watch Series 8 and Ultra models.
- •Battery replacement is not user-friendly—often requires professional service or refurbishing, which can be costly without AppleCare.
- •Heavily reliant on an iPhone for updates, internet connectivity, and accurate features like time zone adjustments; standalone functionality is limited.
- •Not ideal for users needing precise flight tracking or real-time updates during international travel without LTE or local cellular service.
- •Requires the latest iOS version, so older iPhones may not be compatible, which is essential to confirm before buying.
- •Some users find the price steep compared to non-Apple smartwatches that offer similar basic fitness and style features.
- •The always-on display is bright but does not match the brightness or functionality of higher-end Apple Watch models.
- •The aluminum case, while lightweight, is less premium compared to stainless steel or titanium options on other Apple Watches.
Bottom Line
The Apple Watch SE 3 [GPS 44mm] with Midnight Aluminum Case is a strong contender if you want a stylish, comfortable, and capable smartwatch that covers all the basics of fitness, sleep, and heart monitoring with smooth performance and seamless iPhone integration. However, if advanced health metrics like ECG and blood oxygen tracking or fully independent cellular service are priorities, you might want to lean toward a higher-end model like the Apple Watch Series 8. Still, for most users, especially those new to Apple Watches or wanting reliable everyday performance without breaking the bank, this SE 3 variant offers excellent value and longevity.
