📸 How to Scan a Barcode with ShopSavvy
Instantly compare prices at thousands of stores by scanning any product barcode.
Point your phone at any product barcode and ShopSavvy will instantly find and compare prices across thousands of stores, both online and nearby.
How to Scan
- Open ShopSavvy and tap the Scan tab (the third tab at the bottom of the screen).
- If prompted, allow camera access. You only need to do this once.
- Hold your phone about 6 inches from the barcode and keep steady.
- ShopSavvy will automatically detect the barcode and show you the product with prices from every store that carries it.
Scanning from a Photo
If you have a photo of a barcode (from a screenshot or someone sent it to you):
- Tap Scan from Photo at the bottom of the scanner screen.
- Select the photo from your library.
- ShopSavvy will read the barcode from the image.
Tips
- The scanner works with UPC, EAN, QR codes, and most standard barcode formats.
- If a barcode is not recognized, try holding the camera a bit closer or farther away. The camera tries different focus settings automatically.
- Make sure there is no glare on the barcode.
- Very small barcodes may need to be held closer to the camera.
