Comparison

Keepa API alternatives

Keepa's API is the reference for Amazon data. People look elsewhere when the question is wider than Amazon, or when token-based pricing does not suit the workload. These are the options we have checked, with where each one is better and worse than Keepa.

Why people look for alternatives

  • Coverage: Keepa documents its API as Amazon marketplace data. Prices at Walmart, Target, Best Buy or specialist stores need another source.
  • Pricing model: plans are sized in tokens per minute, priced in euros, and unused tokens expire after 60 minutes, which suits steady Amazon polling better than bursty or monthly-budgeted workloads.
  • Inputs: lookups by retailer URL or by model number are not part of its documented product request.

How to evaluate

Retailers beyond Amazon:
The main reason to switch; check that your target stores are covered.
History:
Keepa's Amazon history is deep. An alternative should keep history for the retailers it covers.
Identifiers:
If your data starts from barcodes or URLs rather than ASINs, the API should accept them directly.
Cost at your volume:
Compare a month of your real lookups, not the entry price.

Which to choose

  • Amazon sellers who need sales rank and Buy Box data: Stay on Keepa; nothing here replaces it for that.
  • Cross-retailer prices for products you already identify by ASIN or barcode: ShopSavvy Data API (see the head-to-head and migration guide).
  • Prices outside the US: PriceAPI.

Questions

Is there a free alternative to the Keepa API?

Not for Amazon price history. UPCitemdb has a free barcode tier but excludes Amazon offers. ShopSavvy has a 14-day Starter trial and a free MCP server for AI assistants.

Can I use Keepa and ShopSavvy together?

Yes, and many teams do: Keepa for Amazon-specific depth, ShopSavvy for the rest of the market. Both accept ASINs, so the same product list works with both.

How we compared

Each vendor's facts come from its public pages, read on the dates below; where its own page could not be read we cite a third-party listing. The list covers options we have checked and is not exhaustive. We make ShopSavvy, so weigh our entry accordingly. Corrections: business@shopsavvy.com.
