Best Rain Pants for 2026

☔When it comes to overall performance, the Outdoor Research Foray II GORE-TEX Pants take the crown for 2024. These pants excel in both waterproofing and breathability, thanks to their GORE-TEX PACLITE® technology. The 50D recycled polyester face fabric is eco-friendly, and the PFAS/PFC-free C0 Durable Water Repellent treatment ensures you stay dry. The three-quarter length ventilation zippers are a game-changer for comfort, providing excellent airflow and making it easy to put the pants on and off over boots. Versatile and reliable, they're perfect for a range of outdoor activities, making them an essential addition to any adventurer's gear.

☔The Patagonia Torrentshell 3L Rain Pants are a strong runner-up, offering superb wind resistance and ventilation. Crafted with H2No® Performance Standard fabric, these pants are both waterproof and environmentally conscious. While some users find the material a bit stiff and the lower legs somewhat bulky, these are minor drawbacks compared to the overall effectiveness in adverse weather. Ideal for those braving windy, rainy conditions, these pants deliver on both protection and sustainability.

☔For those seeking excellent value without compromising on quality, the Columbia Rebel Roamer / Storm Surge pants are a fantastic budget pick. These affordable rain pants offer robust waterproof performance and durability, making them a great option for both casual and serious outdoor enthusiasts. They're comfortable for layering, though they lack ventilation zippers and have a slightly baggy fit. Despite these minor cons, their performance in wet conditions makes them well worth the price.

The Outdoor Research Helium Rain Pants are our top choice for ultralight enthusiasts. Weighing a mere 5.3 ounces, these pants are incredibly light and packable, making them ideal for backpackers and hikers prioritizing weight and space. Made with bluesign® approved Pertex® Shield Diamond Fuse 2.5L fabric, they offer solid waterproofing and breathability, perfect for light rain in warmer climates. If minimizing weight is your primary concern, these pants fit the bill perfectly.
